G. Allan Hancock Scholarship

This annual scholarship is provided by the G. Allan Hancock family to support a Hancock College student continuing their education in vocational education, attending community college, transferring to a university or beginning their career. This honors G.A. Hancock’s contributions to the Santa Maria Valley. Hancock was a visionary and true renaissance man. In 1925, he bought farmland, oil fields, a railroad and began business ventures which expanded to meet the needs of the community. Our family’s most important value is to give back to our community which strengthens the community. Through his leadership, community needs were addressed by donated land for Marian Regional Medical Center, the Santa Maria Airport and Hancock College, and raising crops and cattle to help feed the community and beyond with the transportation of food and goods out of the valley using the Santa Maria Valley Railroad.
